This Privacy Policy explains how EduSnap AI (“we”, “our”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal data when you use our mobile apps and services (the “Services”). We are committed to privacy‑by‑design and collect only the data needed to deliver learning features safely and effectively.
1. Who we are
EduSnap AI is an education technology provider focused on CAPS‑aligned learning experiences. For privacy inquiries, contact edusnap.ai.app@gmail.com.
2. What data we collect
We may collect the following categories of data when you use the Services:
- Account information: name, email address, grade/subjects, profile preferences.
- Learning content you provide: photos/images you upload (e.g., textbook pages), study items, answers, feedback.
- Purchase information: subscription entitlements and purchase history (from Google Play / Apple via RevenueCat). We do not receive payment card numbers.
- App interactions: feature usage and event analytics to improve product quality.
- Device or other IDs: anonymous installation/device identifiers for analytics and security (e.g., Firebase Installation ID).
- Support communications: messages you send to our support team (subject, content, email address).
- Deletion feedback: optional feedback you provide when deleting your account, and your email address (only if you consent to re-engagement communications).
3. Where data comes from
- Directly from you when you create an account, upload content, or contact support.
- Automatically via SDKs (e.g., Firebase Analytics) when you interact with the app.
- App stores (Google/Apple) provide purchase status to RevenueCat which we use to manage entitlements.
4. How we use data
- App functionality: authentication, profile, study plans, tests, scanning, entitlements.
- Account management: subscriptions, receipts, eligibility.
- Analytics and product improvement: understand usage, improve reliability and performance.
- Security and fraud prevention: protect accounts and the Service.
- Support and communications: respond to requests and important notices (e.g., policy or security updates).
- Re-engagement: if you consent during account deletion, we may use your email to send you updates about new features or special offers. You can unsubscribe at any time.
Legal bases (where applicable): performance of a contract (provide the Service), legitimate interests (improve and secure the Service), consent (where required), and legal obligation.
5. Data sharing and processors
We do not sell personal data. We use trusted service providers (“processors”) to operate the Service. These providers only process data on our behalf under agreements and appropriate safeguards:
- Google Firebase / Google Cloud (Authentication, Firestore, Functions, Storage, Analytics) – secure hosting, auth, database, analytics.
- RevenueCat – subscription management and entitlements from app stores.
- Email delivery (when you use the deletion form) – request emails sent to our support inbox.
App stores (Google Play / Apple) separately process purchase transactions under their privacy policies.
6. International transfers
Data may be processed in data centers outside your country. We rely on contractual safeguards and industry‑standard security to protect data across borders.
7. Account deletion and data retention
When you delete your account, we permanently remove all your personal data from our active systems, including:
- Your account profile (name, email, preferences)
- All learning content (tests, attempts, scanned books, study plans)
- Usage statistics and analytics linked to your account
- All other data associated with your user ID
7.1. Optional deletion feedback
During account deletion, you may optionally:
- Provide feedback: Share why you're deleting your account (optional). This helps us improve our service.
- Consent to re-engagement: Opt-in to allow us to save your email address for future communications about new features or special offers.
What we store based on your choices:
- If you consent to re-engagement: We save your email address and any feedback you provide. This allows us to contact you about product updates or offers. You can unsubscribe from these communications at any time by replying to any email or contacting us at edusnap.ai.app@gmail.com.
- If you do not consent: We only save anonymized feedback (without your email or any personal identifiers) for product improvement purposes. No personal data is retained.
This approach respects your right to deletion under GDPR, POPIA, CCPA, and other applicable data protection laws. You have full control over whether we retain your email for re-engagement purposes.
7.2. General retention
- Account data: retained while your account is active. Deleted when you delete your account or we process a verified deletion request.
- Learning content: retained while needed to provide features; deleted with account.
- Analytics: retained for operational improvement; aggregated/anonymous data may be kept.
- Legal/Security: limited records may be retained to meet legal obligations or dispute resolution.
- Deletion feedback: retained only if you provide consent during deletion, and only for as long as necessary for re-engagement purposes or until you unsubscribe.
8. Your rights
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data we hold.
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information in your account.
- Deletion: Delete your account and associated data in‑app (Profile → Info → “Delete my account”), or submit a request via our Data Deletion page. During deletion, you can choose whether to consent to re-engagement communications.
- Withdraw consent: If you previously consented to re-engagement communications after account deletion, you can withdraw this consent at any time by emailing us at edusnap.ai.app@gmail.com. We will remove your email from our re-engagement list.
- Object or restrict: Object to or restrict certain processing where applicable by law.
- Portability: Request export of your data in a portable format where applicable.
9. Children and learners
We support learners. Parental consent may be required for users under the age of consent in their jurisdiction (e.g., under 18 in South Africa: POPIA). If we learn a child used the Service without appropriate consent, we will take steps to delete the account.
10. Security
- All data in transit uses HTTPS/TLS.
- We rely on Google Cloud/Firebase security controls, authentication, and role‑based access.
- We maintain least‑privilege access and monitor for abuse.
11. Cookies & SDKs
Our mobile apps use SDKs (e.g., Firebase, RevenueCat) to provide core functionality, analytics, and subscriptions. We do not use advertising SDKs.
